1. Gather an empty plastic bottle, cotton, charcoal, sand, and gravel. 2. Cut the bottle in half and place the top upside down into the bottom half. 3. Add a layer of cotton at the neck of the bottle. 4. Layer activated charcoal on top of the cotton, followed by sand and then gravel. 5. Pour dirty water slowly into the opening and observe. 6. Collect the filtered water — how clear is it compared to the original?
