This activity allows children to explore soil profiles, understanding the different layers and their properties. By physically digging and examining soil, children grasp how soils form and why they're essential for plant growth.

1. Choose a garden or flower pot and gather a trowel, a container, and a notebook. 2. Dig down about 15 cm to uncover the soil layers. 3. Separate the soil into three layers: topsoil, subsoil, and parent rock. 4. Observe and record the color, texture, and any visible organisms in each layer. 5. Discuss with your family why each layer is important for plants and animals. 6. Create a simple diagram in your notebook showing the layers and their features.
