By engaging multiple senses, especially through embodied cognition, children develop stronger neural connections. This sensory exploration supports Vygotsky's scaffolding, as they discover plant scents and their significance together with an adult.
1. Collect various fragrant plants or herbs from your garden (like mint, basil, or jasmine). 2. Take small pieces of each plant and place them in separate bowls. 3. Use your hands to crush the leaves gently to release their scents. 4. Place the crushed leaves in small cloth bags or tight jars. 5. Seal the bags/jars and label them with the plant names. 6. Smell each one and discuss which scents you like best and why.
