      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Engaging with living plants allows children to experience the growth process firsthand, enhancing their understanding through embodied cognition. Making daily observations and recordings taps into Vygotsky's scaffolding, where children build knowledge progressively.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a small pot, soil, and seeds (like beans or marigold). 2. Fill the pot with soil, leaving space at the top. 3. Plant 3-5 seeds about 2 cm deep in the soil. 4. Water the soil gently to moisten it but not drown the seeds. 5. Place the pot in a sunny spot and observe daily. 6. Draw or write notes about how the plants grow each day for a week.
