When children manipulate various materials, they employ embodied cognition, allowing them to physically experience differences in mixtures. 1. Gather 5 clear cups and label them with different mixtures: salt water, sugar water, sand, oil, and pure water. 2. Fill each cup with 100 ml of the respective substance. 3. Observe and note the clarity and appearance of each mixture in a notebook. 4. Discuss which mixtures seem pure and which do not, based on what you see. 5. Try to separate the mixtures by filtration or evaporation — what happens? 6. Share your findings with a family member and ask for their opinion.
