1. Gather 5 small bowls and label them with the names of items (e.g., salt, sugar, sand, water, oil). 2. Fill each bowl with a small amount of the corresponding material. 3. Prepare a clear glass of water to test solubility. 4. One by one, add a spoonful of each material into the glass of water and stir. 5. Observe and note which materials dissolve and which float or sink. 6. Discuss with your family why some materials dissolved while others did not.
