Engaging with real-life examples of microorganisms allows children to visualize and understand these tiny life forms. This aligns with Vygotsky's scaffolding principle, as hands-on exploration builds on their prior knowledge and encourages curiosity.
1. Gather a clear jar, soil, and some grass seeds. 2. Fill the jar halfway with soil. 3. Sprinkle a few grass seeds on top of the soil. 4. Add water until the soil is moist but not soggy. 5. Cover the jar with a piece of plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band. 6. Place it in a warm spot and observe daily — what changes do you see?
