      Why It Works

      The learning connection

By manipulating magnets within a self-created environment, children engage in embodied cognition, where they physically interact with forces, enhancing understanding of unseen scientific principles through real-world application.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 4 metal or plastic spoons and 2 magnets. 2. Use tape to secure the ends of the spoons onto a flat surface, creating a winding track. 3. Place the magnets at the starting point of the track. 4. Release the magnets and observe how they move along the track. 5. Adjust the angles of the spoons to see how the magnets behave differently. 6. Challenge a friend to design their track and race magnets!
