Engaging in puppet theater activates embodied cognition and Vygotsky’s scaffolding. As children experiment with their creations, they receive immediate feedback on how light interacts with objects, helping them internalize concepts of light and shadow more effectively.
1. Cut out animal shapes from the cardboard for your puppets. 2. Attach a popsicle stick to each puppet for holding. 3. Set up a white sheet as a screen in a dimly lit room. 4. Use a flashlight as your light source directed at the puppets. 5. Move the puppets closer and farther from the light — observe shadow changes! 6. Perform a short story using your puppets and share with family!
