      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Empowering children to create and manipulate shadow puppets employs embodied cognition, where they physically engage with light and shadow concepts. As they experiment, their understanding deepens through direct observation and feedback as they adjust distances and angles.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a cardboard piece and cut out fun shapes for puppets. 2. Tape a wooden stick to each puppet for easy handling. 3. Find a flashlight or a mobile phone with a flashlight setting. 4. Set up a white wall or sheet as a backdrop. 5. Shine the light on the puppets and move them around to see how shadows change. 6. Perform a mini play using your puppets and describe the shadows created!
