      The learning connection

Engaging in creative processes like printing helps children understand botanical structures through embodied cognition. By transforming leaves into art, they reinforce their learning about plants while enjoying the sensory experience of color and texture.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Collect 5 different leaves from your garden or park. 2. Use a paintbrush to coat one side of a leaf with paint (green, brown, or any color). 3. Press the painted side of the leaf onto white paper and press firmly. 4. Carefully lift the leaf to reveal the print. 5. Repeat with different leaves, mixing colors as you go. 6. Discuss with your family what each leaf represents and its role in plant life.
