1. Choose a small area in your garden or a plant pot to dig. 2. Using a hand shovel, dig down about 15 cm and collect soil samples from different layers (topsoil, subsoil, clay). 3. Place each sample into separate transparent containers or plastic bags. 4. Observe and describe the color, texture, and any visible materials (roots, stones). 5. Discuss with your family what you notice about each layer's properties. 6. Reflect: Why do you think different plants prefer certain soil types?
