Try it with your learner
1. Gather a clear plastic container or jar and some soil from your garden. 2. Carefully dig about 15 cm into the ground to collect soil from different layers: topsoil, subsoil, and bedrock. 3. Layer the soil in the container, filling about one-third with each type. 4. Observe the color, texture, and size of the soil particles in each layer. 5. Label each layer with a piece of paper or tape. 6. Discuss with your family what plants might grow in each layer and why.
