      The learning connection

Building a model engages embodied cognition by allowing children to physically manipulate their learning. The act of creating a spinner helps them visualize distances and sizes, making abstract concepts more tangible.

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a cardboard circle and paint it black to represent space. 2. Cut out smaller circles for each planet using colored paper. 3. Write each planet's name and a fun fact on the back of its circle. 4. Attach each planet to the cardboard circle using a pin, allowing them to spin freely. 5. Spin the planets and observe their arrangement as you learn about their order. 6. Share your favorite planet fact with family members.
