By physically creating and using a weather station, children engage with real-world data collection. This hands-on approach uses embodied cognition, allowing them to associate measurement tools with actual weather changes, enhancing retention.
1. Gather a plastic bottle, a small bowl, a ruler, and a thermometer. 2. Cut the plastic bottle in half and place the top half upside down into the bottom half to collect rainwater. 3. Create a wind vane using a straw and paper to indicate wind direction. 4. Use the ruler to measure rainwater daily and record it in a notebook. 5. Check the thermometer to note the temperature each day. 6. Share your observations with family — what patterns do you see?
