By creating a mini water cycle, children engage in embodied cognition, as they see real processes happen in front of them. This visual representation reinforces the concepts of evaporation and condensation, allowing for deeper retention of information.
1. Take a zip-lock bag and add 1/4 cup of water to it. 2. Use a marker to draw the sun and clouds on the front of the bag. 3. Seal the bag tightly and tape it to a sunny window. 4. Observe the bag over the next few hours — what happens to the water? 5. Note the droplets forming on the inside of the bag. 6. Discuss with a partner how this relates to the real water cycle.
