1. Gather a long string (10 meters) to represent the solar system's distance. 2. Mark the string with distances using small markers for Sun (0m), Mercury (0.4m), Venus (0.7m), Earth (1m), Mars (1.5m), Jupiter (5.2m), Saturn (9.5m), Uranus (19.2m), and Neptune (30m). 3. Use various items (a button for Mercury, a marble for Earth) to represent each planet. 4. Place the items at their respective distances from the Sun marked on the string. 5. Measure the distances between the planets with a measuring tape to visualize the gaps. 6. Discuss with your family the vastness of space and how it feels to see these distances.
