1. Gather materials: a long string (5 meters), 10 small balls (varying sizes), and markers. 2. Use a scale (1 cm = 10 million km) to calculate distances of each planet from the Sun. 3. Mark the Sun’s position on one end of the string with a marker. 4. Place each ball according to the calculated distance from the Sun along the string. 5. Label each planet with its name and distance from the Sun. 6. Step back and observe your solar system model — how do the sizes and distances compare?
