      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using the principles of embodied cognition, children engage deeply with their creation. By physically constructing a mini-ecosystem, they visualize relationships within the environment, enhancing their understanding of ecological balance and interdependence.

      Try it with your learner

      1. Take a clean, transparent plastic bottle and cut it in half. 2. Add a layer of small pebbles at the bottom for drainage (2 cm). 3. Layer activated charcoal (1 cm) to filter impurities. 4. Add potting soil (5 cm) on top of the charcoal. 5. Plant small seeds or grass in the soil, then water lightly. 6. Place the top half of the bottle upside down over the bottom half to create a closed environment; observe daily.
