Using natural items like turmeric engages children in embodied cognition as they mix and observe reactions, making the abstract concept of pH tangible and memorable through sensory experiences and immediate visual feedback.
1. Gather 1 tsp of turmeric powder and 200 ml of water. 2. Boil the mixture for 10 minutes, then let it cool. 3. Pour the liquid into a clear container to create your indicator. 4. Test it with 3 different substances: lemon juice, baking soda solution, and soap. 5. Observe the color change and write down the results for each test. 6. Discuss how each substance reacted with your indicator!
