Children learn to identify weather patterns by creating a visual representation. This hands-on activity engages them in observing their surroundings and understanding the impact of weather on daily life.
Using the dual coding theory, children combine visual art and weather concepts, enhancing memory and recall. The act of crafting the wheel makes the learning experience active and relatable, reinforcing their observation skills.
1. Gather a cardboard piece, scissors, and colored markers. 2. Cut the cardboard into a circle (about 12 inches in diameter). 3. Divide the circle into 8 equal sections, labeling each with a weather type (sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, etc.). 4. Use markers to color each section vibrantly. 5. Attach a small arrow in the center to spin and point at today's weather. 6. What weather did you observe today? Share with your family!
