What this lesson teaches

This activity helps children observe and classify different weather types, enhancing their understanding of atmospheric conditions. By interacting with the wheel, they connect real-world weather to visual representations, fostering critical thinking about their environment.

      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using Bruner's CPA approach, children transition from concrete experiences with weather to pictorial representations on their wheel. This multi-sensory engagement aids memory retention and encourages meaningful discussions about weather patterns.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Take a paper plate and divide it into four sections using a pencil. 2. In each section, draw a different weather type: sunny, rainy, windy, and cloudy. 3. Color the drawings with crayons or markers to make them bright and engaging. 4. Attach a paper arrow (using a straw) at the center of the plate that can spin around. 5. Each day, spin the arrow and check the weather outside; point it to the current weather type. 6. Discuss your observations with your family — which weather type is the most common?
