      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Embodied cognition occurs as children physically create a greenhouse, engaging them in the scientific process. By observing plant growth, they connect the concept of climate conditions directly to living experiences, reinforcing learning through visual and hands-on engagement.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Cut the top off a plastic bottle, leaving the base about 10 cm tall. 2. Fill the bottle base with soil, leaving 2 cm at the top. 3. Plant 3-5 seeds of your choice in the soil, pressing them gently. 4. Water the soil lightly using a spoon until it's moist but not soggy. 5. Place the top half of the bottle upside down over the base to create a greenhouse effect. 6. Place your mini greenhouse in a sunny area and observe it daily for changes.
