Try it with your learner
1. Gather 4 small containers and label them: Sandy, Clay, Loamy, and Chalky. 2. Collect a small sample of each soil type from your garden or local area. 3. Fill each container with the respective soil sample. 4. Use your fingers to feel the texture and moisture of each type. 5. Draw and describe the characteristics of each soil type on paper. 6. Discuss with a family member which plants might grow best in each soil.
