What you need
- Paper plate
- Colored markers or crayons
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Brad (paper fastener)
How the activity runs
- Step 1: Take a paper plate and divide it into four equal parts.
- Step 2: Label each section with a season: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn.
- Step 3: Draw or paste pictures representing each season in its section.
- Step 4: Use a brad to attach a smaller circle to the center of the plate.
- Step 5: Spin the wheel to learn about each season's features!
The learning connection
Cyclical models give students a spatial representation of time — which is inherently invisible. The wheel encodes the idea that seasons repeat, connect, and transition, building the temporal reasoning needed for chronological history, data cycles, and ecological thinking.
