      The learning connection

Creating a mini garden engages children’s senses and allows them to observe growth cycles. This hands-on experience aligns with Vygotsky’s scaffolding, where kids explore concepts in a manageable context, reinforcing their understanding of biodiversity.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a clean glass jar, soil, small plants or seeds, and pebbles. 2. Layer pebbles at the bottom of the jar for drainage. 3. Add soil on top of the pebbles, filling the jar halfway. 4. Plant your small plants or sprinkle seeds in the soil. 5. Water gently and cover the jar with a clear lid. 6. Place it in sunlight and observe changes over the next week.
