      The learning connection

Embodied cognition occurs as children physically engage in planting and observing growth. By manipulating their environment, they learn about the conditions necessary for healthy plant development, reinforcing concepts through a tangible experience.

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a plastic bottle and cut it in half. 2. Fill the bottom half with soil (about 5 cm deep). 3. Plant 3 mustard seeds in the soil, covering them lightly. 4. Place the top half of the bottle back on to create a greenhouse effect. 5. Place the mini greenhouse in sunlight and water it lightly. 6. Observe and note any changes in the seeds every day for a week.
