This activity teaches children about biodiversity and the importance of planting for ecosystems. By combining seeds with natural materials, they understand how plants contribute to a healthier environment.
Using the hands-on approach of creating seed bombs engages children's tactile senses and reinforces their connection with nature, applying Vygotsky's scaffolding as they see their efforts grow into real plants and contribute to the ecosystem.
1. Gather clay, compost, seeds, and water in a bowl. 2. Mix 1 part seeds, 3 parts compost, and 5 parts clay. 3. Add water gradually until the mixture is moldable. 4. Shape it into small balls, about the size of a marble. 5. Let them dry in the sun for at least 24 hours. 6. Once dry, take them to a garden or open area and toss them onto the soil.
