By creating a mini ecosystem, children engage in embodied cognition, physically manipulating materials to see the impact of their actions. Observing growth over time fosters curiosity and reinforces knowledge about living systems and biodiversity.
1. Take a clear plastic bottle and cut it in half. 2. Fill the bottom half with 2 cups of soil. 3. Plant 3 small seeds (like mustard or coriander) in the soil. 4. Add a few small pebbles on top for drainage. 5. Place the top half upside down over the bottom half to create a lid. 6. Place it in a sunny spot and water it lightly every few days — observe daily.
