This activity encourages observation of plants and insects, fostering curiosity about biodiversity. Kids learn to identify types of plants and their roles in the ecosystem, connecting them to the importance of nature in our lives.
Using embodied cognition, children interact with their environment, making connections to real-life ecosystems. This hands-on exploration allows them to integrate visual and tactile experiences, which promotes deeper understanding and retention of knowledge about biodiversity.
1. Grab a magnifying glass or a smartphone camera to observe closely. 2. Go to your garden or a nearby park. 3. Identify at least 5 different plants and observe their features (leaves, flowers, height). 4. Look for insects on the plants and note their colors and movements. 5. Draw your favorite plant and insect in your notebook, labeling them. 6. Share your findings with your family — what surprised you the most?
