      The learning connection

Constructing models aligns with Bruner's CPA approach, where children can visualize complex systems. Engaging in a creative task enhances retention of information as they actively participate in the learning process, facilitating deeper understanding.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 5 different colored papers to represent plants and animals. 2. Draw and cut out one plant, one herbivore, and one carnivore on each paper. 3. Create arrows on another piece of paper to show energy flow between them. 4. Use string to hang your food chain in sequence from a stick or hanger. 5. Write a label for each item to explain their role in the food chain. 6. Share your food chain with family and discuss how energy flows!
