By visually tracking daily weather changes on their wheel, children engage in embodied cognition, solidifying their grasp of the differences between transient weather and stable climate over time. This method promotes active recall and helps form connections between concepts.
1. Gather a paper plate, markers, and a pencil. 2. Divide the plate into 8 equal sections for different weather types (sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, snowy, stormy, hot, cold). 3. Decorate each section with illustrations of the weather types. 4. Use a fastener to attach a smaller paper arrow to the center of the plate. 5. Each day, check the weather and point the arrow to today’s weather. 6. Discuss what you noticed about the week’s weather patterns at the end of the week.
