      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Embodied cognition helps children grasp complex concepts through hands-on experiences. Creating a mini greenhouse allows them to physically engage with the environment, making the relationship between sunlight and growth tangible.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Take a plastic bottle and cut it in half. 2. Fill the bottom half with soil (about 2 inches high). 3. Plant 2 small seeds (like beans) in the soil, covering them lightly. 4. Place the top half of the bottle back on, creating a lid. 5. Set your mini greenhouse in a sunny spot at home. 6. Check daily for growth and moisture — how do the plants react?
