Try it with your learner
1. Gather 5 items: a leaf (plant), a toy animal (herbivore), a toy carnivore, a water bottle (human), and a rock (habitat). 2. Arrange them in a line to represent a food chain. 3. Label each item with its role: producer, primary consumer, etc. 4. Discuss what would happen if one item was removed. 5. Create a drawing of your food chain using colors and names for each organism. 6. Share your food chain with a family member — what did you learn?
