1. Gather 5 items: a leaf (plant), a small toy chicken (herbivore), a toy cat (carnivore), a small bowl of water (to represent a water source), and a paper for notes. 2. Place the leaf on one end of your workspace to represent the producer. 3. Next, position the chicken nearby to show it feeds on the leaf. 4. Place the cat next to the chicken to indicate it feeds on the chicken. 5. Draw arrows on the paper to show the energy flow from the leaf to the chicken to the cat. 6. Discuss with your family what other animals could fit into your food chain.
