      The learning connection

By engaging in real-life data collection and analysis, children apply Vygotsky's scaffolding. They connect abstract concepts of carbon emissions to tangible daily actions, enhancing retention and prompting meaningful discussions on sustainability.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 3-5 different colored sticky notes. 2. Assign each color to a category: Transport, Energy Use, Food Choices, Waste. 3. For one week, write down daily activities on the sticky notes in the corresponding color. 4. At the end of the week, count how many notes you have in each category. 5. Discuss with your family which habits can be changed for a lower carbon footprint. 6. Create a carbon-reduction plan together and display it on the fridge!
