1. Gather a plastic bottle, scissors, sand, gravel, and a coffee filter. 2. Cut the bottom off the plastic bottle and invert it to create a funnel. 3. Layer the coffee filter, a layer of gravel, and then sand in the bottle. 4. Pour dirty water through the filter and collect the filtered water in a clean container. 5. Observe the difference in water clarity before and after filtering. 6. Discuss what materials worked best for filtering.
