      Why It Works

      The learning connection

This activity leverages Vygotsky's scaffolding principle, as children use physical materials to represent abstract concepts like time management. By physically arranging elements in their garden, they connect the idea of time blocking with tangible actions, enhancing their cognitive organization skills.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a shallow tray, sand (or rice), and small stones or plants. 2. Pour sand into the tray, smoothing it out to create a base. 3. Use the stones to outline areas for different tasks: study, play, relax. 4. Write down your daily tasks on small pieces of paper and place them in the respective areas. 5. Spend 5 minutes each day tending to your garden, adjusting tasks as needed. 6. Share your garden with family and explain your time management plan.
