      Why It Works

      The learning connection

The principles of dual coding theory apply here, as combining visual drawing with sequential action enhances memory retention. Children engage both visual and kinesthetic channels, deepening their understanding of animated storytelling.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 5 small sheets of paper and stack them together. 2. Draw a character in different positions on each sheet — start with standing, then jumping, then landing. 3. Number the sheets from 1 to 5 in the corner for sequence. 4. Hold the stack in one hand and flip through the sheets with your thumb. 5. Observe the movement as you flip — does it look like your character is jumping? 6. Try adding backgrounds or other characters for more action!
