      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Visualizing kindness through a chain leverages dual coding theory, making abstract concepts tangible. As children see their actions connected in a chain, they reinforce positive behaviors through embodied cognition — linking actions with visual rewards.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather colored paper and scissors. 2. Cut 10 strips of paper, each 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. 3. Write a kind action you can perform on each strip, like 'help Amma with cooking'. 4. Form a loop with the first strip and glue or tape the ends together. 5. Add each subsequent strip by threading it through the last loop before securing it. 6. Display your kindness chain in a visible place — how long can you make it in a week?
