This activity fosters empathy as children enact different perspectives, helping them understand diverse feelings and situations. It encourages emotional intelligence by making abstract concepts of empathy tangible and relatable through role-play.
Experiential learning promotes deeper emotional connections. By embodying different characters, children engage in embodied cognition, allowing them to physically and emotionally relate to others' experiences, which strengthens their ability to empathize.
1. Write down 4 different scenarios on slips of paper (e.g., a new student, a lost pet). 2. Fold and place them in a bowl. 3. Gather as a family and take turns picking a scenario. 4. Act out the scenario and express how the character feels. 5. Discuss how you would help or comfort that character after the role-play. 6. Choose a new scenario and repeat the process.
