      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Role-play engages students in embodied cognition, allowing them to physically act out shopping scenarios. This method reinforces memory by connecting emotions and real-life experiences to learning, making financial concepts stick.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Set up a mini-store with items from around the house (toys, snacks, etc.). 2. Assign prices to each item using sticky notes. 3. Give your child play money (make it with paper) to 'spend'. 4. Allow them to choose items they want to 'buy', adding up the prices. 5. Discuss which items are needs vs. wants as they shop. 6. Reflect on how much they saved or splurged after shopping!
