This activity integrates systems modeling by having children visualize their dreams through puzzles. By creating logical pathways, they learn to structure their goals and understand the connections between their current skills and future aspirations.
Using Bruner's CPA approach, children first create concrete models of their future, progressing to picturing the abstract paths they need to take. This visual representation makes complex systems more understandable, increasing their engagement and motivation.
1. Gather a large sheet of paper and colored markers. 2. In the center, write a dream job or goal (e.g., engineer, artist). 3. Draw branches leading out for skills needed (e.g., math, creativity). 4. For each skill, create a mini-puzzle related to it (e.g., a math problem for math). 5. Solve the puzzles as a family, discussing how each skill helps reach the goal. 6. Reflect on what new skills you want to learn next for your future path!
