      Why It Works

      The learning connection

By using embodied cognition, children experience breath control as a physical action, reinforcing the connection between breath and focus. The imagined balloon popping provides immediate feedback, engaging their minds and reinforcing learning through playful visualization.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Sit comfortably and close your eyes. 2. Imagine a balloon in front of you, filled with air. 3. Take a deep breath in through your nose, feeling your belly expand. 4. Slowly breathe out through your mouth, picturing the balloon starting to deflate. 5. When you feel ready, exhale strongly to 'pop' the balloon! 6. Repeat with different imagined colors and sizes of balloons — how does it feel?
