The practice of deep breathing is tied to the principles of cognitive load theory, where focusing on breath reduces distractions. The physical action of popping balloons creates an immediate feedback loop that reinforces their focus and mindfulness.
1. Inflate 5 balloons and tie them off. 2. Find an open space to work in. 3. Take a deep breath in, then slowly out while focusing on the balloon. 4. Pop a balloon by sitting on it or using a pin — focus on your breath each time. 5. Observe how calm or excited you feel after each pop. 6. Challenge a family member to join and compare your calmness levels!
