Creating poetry engages both the cognitive and emotional aspects of language learning, promoting embodied cognition. When children perform their poems, they practice intonation and expression, solidifying their understanding of rhythm and emotional delivery.
1. Choose a theme for your poem, like nature or friendship. 2. Write 4-6 lines that express your thoughts on that theme. 3. Think of actions or gestures to accompany each line. 4. Practice reciting your poem aloud, adding emotion to your voice. 5. Perform your poem for your family, using your gestures. 6. Ask them what they felt during your performance — how did it affect them?
