      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Engaging in physical activities like mazes utilizes embodied cognition, making patterns more tangible. By moving through each step, children solidify their grasp of sequences and patterns as they actively participate in the learning process.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Draw a simple 4x4 maze on a large sheet of paper. 2. Place colored stickers or shapes at specific points along the maze, forming patterns (e.g., red-blue-red). 3. Start at the entrance and plan your route to follow the pattern. 4. Step on the stickers in the correct order as you navigate the maze. 5. Once you reach the exit, write down the pattern you followed. 6. Swap mazes with a friend or family member and see if they can follow your pattern!
