Mindfulness techniques reduce cognitive load by encouraging focused attention on the present moment. This follows Vygotsky's scaffolding, as children build their cognitive skills with guided support from their parents.
1. Sit comfortably on the floor with your legs crossed. 2. Set a timer for one minute. 3. Close your eyes and take deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. 4. Focus on the sensation of your breath entering and leaving your body. 5. If your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back to your breathing. 6. Discuss how you felt after the minute — was it calming?
