      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Engaging multiple senses through sound promotes embodied cognition. By physically moving to investigate sounds, children create mental associations with what they hear, strengthening neural connections related to auditory processing.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Choose 4-5 common household items that make noise (e.g., keys, bell, spoon). 2. Hide these items in different rooms while your child is not watching. 3. Make a sound with one item and ask your child to find it. 4. Repeat, using a different item each time, and encourage them to listen carefully. 5. After finding all items, discuss which sounds were easiest and hardest to identify. 6. Create a new round, but this time, use only whispering sounds or soft taps.
