    How the activity runs

      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using embodied cognition, children physically create their garden, linking emotional concepts to visual colors. This approach reinforces emotional awareness and expression, making reflection enjoyable and meaningful.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather colored paper, scissors, and a large sheet of cardstock. 2. Cut out flower shapes from the colored paper, using different colors for different emotions (e.g., yellow for happy, blue for sad). 3. Glue the flowers onto the cardstock in a garden layout. 4. Each day, add a new flower representing your mood that day. 5. At the end of the week, discuss your garden with family — how did your feelings change? 6. Share one memory tied to a flower color with your family.
